CNN Host Discusses Where People Get Info During Segment

File this one under Peak Irony.

CNN’s Abby Phillip, during an appearance on Pod Save America — the liberal echo chamber hosted by former Obama staffers — claimed she understands the MAGA movement because she “speaks to MAGA people every day” and has a deep grasp of the “information silos” in which they allegedly operate.

Let’s pause right there.

This is the same Abby Phillip who’s made a career inside the information silo of CNN — a network that still hasn’t recovered from the trauma of Trump’s 2016 victory. A network whose coverage of MAGA voters has toggled between condescension and outright fabrication. A network whose idea of political balance is inviting a token conservative on air just long enough to be interrupted, ridiculed, and cut to commercial.

For Phillip to say she understands the MAGA mindset is like saying a fish understands the desert.

Let’s be real: the mainstream media has never understood the Trump base. They dismissed it in 2015. Mocked it in 2016. Declared it dead in 2020. And now, in 2025, as Trump continues to lead the GOP, they still can’t wrap their heads around it. Why? Because it’s not just a political faction — it’s a cultural rebellion. It’s a movement fueled by Americans who work, build, farm, defend, and produce — not by the ones who lecture from Manhattan studios or Capitol Hill cocktail parties.

Phillip’s comment was met with well-deserved mockery online. One post, in particular, nailed it: a tweet pointing out that she booted guests who actually do understand the MAGA movement. Namely, Ryan Girdusky — a populist strategist who’s been analyzing this realignment since before most of the press realized it was happening. Girdusky appeared on CNN once, offered actual insight into the populist base, and was promptly blacklisted.

So no, Abby. You don’t get it. And you’ve made it perfectly clear that you don’t want to get it.

You see, understanding MAGA requires more than talking points and poll-tested narratives. It requires stepping out of elite bubbles and actually listening — not with an eye-roll or a smirk, but with a willingness to grasp why the movement exists. It’s about jobs, not jargon. Border security, not pronoun lectures. Faith, not fashionable nihilism. Family, not bureaucratic overreach.

And maybe that’s why the Left keeps losing working-class voters. They’re too busy psychoanalyzing “disinformation ecosystems” to understand the very people they’ve abandoned.

So yes, let Abby Phillip keep telling herself she’s got MAGA figured out. The more they pretend to “understand” the movement while getting it wrong, the more political ground they lose.
