Ashley Biden’s Tax Troubles Revealed

In a recent report, it has been revealed that Ashley Biden, daughter of President Joe Biden, owes approximately $5,000 in unpaid income taxes. The tax lien documents, obtained by The Post, show that the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue’s Philadelphia County office has imposed a lien for failing to pay taxes in 2015 and 2021. This comes at a time when her father has been pushing for higher taxes on the wealthy, making it a matter of both concern and criticism.

The tax lien, issued on December 1, shows that Ashley Biden owes $5,079.44 in unpaid taxes. According to the documents, she failed to pay $1,691 and $1,956 in income taxes for 2015 and 2021, respectively. As a result, she was slapped with a lien of $2,736 and $2,249, along with a $94.44 filing fee. This indicates a pattern of evading taxes, which has been a major point of contention for her father’s administration.

Experts and politicians have expressed their disapproval of the situation, citing privilege or carelessness as possible reasons for the unpaid taxes. Representatives Dan Meuser (R-Pa.) and Garrett Ziegler, founder of the nonprofit Marco Polo, have both criticized the first daughter’s actions, calling it “unlawful” and “hypocritical.”

Meuser, who served as Pennsylvania’s revenue secretary from 2011 to 2015, stated that tax compliance in the state is not difficult and with Ashley Biden’s net worth of nearly $2 million, she has the means to pay her taxes. Ziegler, on the other hand, highlighted the hypocrisy of the situation, as Joe Biden has often chastised the wealthy for not paying their fair share of taxes.

The situation is further complicated by the recent indictment of first son Hunter Biden on nine counts of evading taxes totaling $1.4 million between 2016 and 2019. The indictment includes charges of tax evasion and filing false returns for personal and corporate income, as well as misdemeanors for failing to pay taxes. The potential jail time for Hunter Biden’s charges serves as a stark contrast to Ashley’s relatively small unpaid tax debt.

This is not the first time that Ashley Biden has faced legal troubles. The youngest Biden child has had past incidents of arrests for marijuana possession during her time at Tulane University in 1999 and for allegedly obstructing a police officer in 2002. These incidents highlight a pattern of questionable behavior and raise questions about her ability to handle her financial responsibilities.

In an interview with Elle magazine earlier this year, Ashley Biden discussed her plans to open a wellness space in Philadelphia for formerly incarcerated women suffering from trauma. She credits her own experiences with therapy after the death of her half-brother, Beau Biden, for inspiring the venture. However, the recent revelation of her unpaid taxes casts doubts on her ability to manage such a project.
