In Columbus, Ohio police fatally shot Ma’Khia Bryant after she allegedly attempted to stab a woman.
The Columbus Police Department immediately released the body cam video showing the moment leading up to the shooting of Bryant who was 15 years old. In the video the officer arrives to a chaotic scene, of a fight in progress. One woman was pressed up against a vehicle trapped and an alleged knife is in the hands of Bryant pointed at the woman. To protect the woman pressed up against the vehicle the officer opened fire when one of the woman – identified by police as Bryant – attempts to stab the woman in pink.

Police in Columbus released the video in “an effort to be transparent” about what led the officer to shoot and it appears that he may have saved the woman in pink life.
Columbus Mayor Andrew Ginther said the incident was a “tragic day in the City of Columbus.”
“We know based on this footage the officer took action to protect another young girl in our community,” Ginther explained. “We think it’s critically important to share as much information as possible. We’ll continue to share footage and other information as quickly as possible.”
Body camera video released by Columbus Police in Ohio shows #MakiyahBryant attacking another female with a knife before she is shot by police. #BLM have been protesting, calling the shooting racist because Makiyah is black. pic.twitter.com/LY1HaJyI1F

Despite the body camera video high profile attorney Benjamin Crump who is representing the Floyd family lied about the incident.
“As we breathed a collective sigh of relief today, a community in Columbus felt the sting of another police shooting as @ColumbusPolice killed an unarmed 15yo Black girl named Makiyah Bryant,” Crump tweeted. “Another child lost! Another hashtag. #JusticeForMakiyahBryant“
I wonder if Twitter will flag this as disinformation, given that it’s provably false and it stokes existing tensions.
It could be the cop is guilty of her death, but she wasn’t unarmed. She was attacking someone with a knife, by all appearances. https://t.co/eInQoDiyc9
