Senator John Barrasso (R-WY) isn’t mincing words, and neither is President-elect Donald Trump.
In a weekend interview, Barrasso backed Trump’s potential use of the U.S. military to address one of the country’s most glaring issues: the millions of illegal immigrants who have crossed the border and taken root across the nation. Cue the outrage machine because the left isn’t going to like this one.
Barrasso hit the nail on the head when he described the border crisis as a national emergency. The numbers don’t lie: over 10 million illegal immigrants are in the United States, with a significant portion tied to drug trafficking, human smuggling, and violent criminal cartels.
And let’s not pretend this is just some abstract political debate. Americans are living in communities rocked by fentanyl deaths, gang violence, and the constant threat of criminal activity spilling over the border. The senator’s comments highlight what so many Americans already know: our open-border policies have turned into an open invitation for chaos.
The idea of using the military for mass deportations has, predictably, sparked hysteria among the usual suspects—big city mayors, woke governors, and activists more concerned with the “rights” of illegal immigrants than with the safety of American citizens. Barrasso called them out for prioritizing lawbreakers over the very people they were elected to protect. These leaders seem happy to make their cities sanctuaries for crime while turning a blind eye to the devastation left in the wake of unchecked illegal immigration.
Barrasso is right to point out that Trump’s decisive election victory was fueled by voters’ frustration with this very issue. People want leaders who will put their safety first, and Trump’s willingness to take bold, decisive action is exactly what Americans demanded. The border isn’t just a policy problem—it’s a security crisis. And if the military is what it takes to fix it, then so be it.

Let’s be clear: the American people overwhelmingly support mass deportations when it’s framed for what it is—a move to restore order, protect communities, and finally enforce the law. The tired talking points about “compassion” and “diversity” won’t cut it anymore when American families are grieving over loved ones lost to violence or drugs brought in by criminal networks exploiting the system.

Barrasso’s comments underscore the broader point: it’s time for leadership that prioritizes Americans. Trump’s plan to use every tool available to secure the border and remove illegal immigrants is exactly what this country needs. The left may not like it, but as Barrasso put it, “We have to make America safe again.”
