Well, folks, it finally happened. Outgoing President Joe Biden went ahead and did the least surprising thing in politics: he pardoned his son, Hunter Biden, with a sweeping forgiveness that covers a decade’s worth of alleged misdeeds. From 2014 to 2024, Hunter is now officially above the law, thanks to dear old Dad’s parting gift.
This pardon is a masterpiece of hypocrisy. Democrats, the self-anointed champions of gun control and “no one being above the law,” now have to explain why a man who lied on a federal firearms form—and got caught—is walking free. Let’s not forget the felony tax charges and that pesky influence-peddling racket involving foreign deals. For the party that loves to lecture the rest of us about morality, this is a tough pill to swallow.
About that pardon: It’s a blanket. Biden pardoned Hunter for offenses “he has committed or may have committed or taken part in during the period from January 1, 2014 through December 1, 2024.”

Remember all those times Biden insisted he wouldn’t pardon his son? That was, apparently, just another one of those “grandpa’s tales” moments. Liberal commentators rushed to hail his supposed integrity back then, patting him on the back for drawing a line he clearly never intended to hold. But now that Hunter’s been gifted this presidential mulligan, those same pundits are either silent or tying themselves in knots to justify it. “No one is above the law”? Yeah, except when your dad is the president.
Bulshi* alert incoming.
In June, Biden categorically ruled out a pardon or commutation for his son, telling reporters as his son faced trial in the Delware gun case, “I abide by the jury decision. I will do that and I will not pardon him.” pic.twitter.com/iAq4crm6uQ

The fallout is almost as entertaining as the pardon itself. The usual suspects in the media, who spent years framing Biden as a moral compass, are being forced to eat their own words. It’s a delicious bit of irony watching the same people who demanded accountability for everything under the sun now twisting themselves into pretzels defending this brazen abuse of power.

And let’s not pretend Biden himself is some sort of moral luminary. The man has spent decades in Washington proving he’s as swampy as they come. Sure, he’s always been a little more “folksy” about it, but being a charming gaffe machine doesn’t make you a saint. This pardon isn’t about love or family—it’s about self-preservation and legacy. Biden is just another politician doing what politicians do best: protecting their own at the expense of everyone else.
JUST IN: Joe Walsh turns on Joe Biden after he pardoned Hunter, says he is “deflated” because he spent years saying Trump was the “threat.”
“This pardon is just deflating for those of us who’ve been out there for a few years yelling about what a threat Trump is.”

At the end of the day, this pardon is a perfect encapsulation of modern Democratic politics: preach one thing, do another, and then act surprised when no one buys the act. Hunter walks free, Biden walks away, and the American people are left shaking their heads, once again reminded that Washington’s moral high ground is nothing but quicksand.
