Brad Pitt’s next big-screen project is already generating excitement after Paramount released the first trailer for Heart of the Beast, an action-packed survival thriller that places the Oscar-winning actor in one of the harshest environments on Earth.
The film stars Pitt as James Belmont, a former Navy SEAL who finds himself stranded deep in the Alaskan wilderness after a devastating plane crash. Accompanying him is Odin, his retired military combat dog, and together the pair must battle brutal weather, isolation, and the unforgiving terrain in a desperate fight to stay alive.
The trailer immediately sparked enthusiastic reactions from fans online.
“Imagine being 60 and still cooler than every actor under 30. Brad Pitt different,” one viewer wrote in the YouTube comments.
Another declared, “This looks PEAK, can’t wait to watch it,” while a third praised Pitt as “the perfect combination of an actor, action hero, performer and superstar.”
Directed by Fury and End of Watch filmmaker David Ayer, Heart of the Beast also features J.K. Simmons and Anna Lambe. The movie is scheduled to hit theaters on September 25.
According to the official synopsis, Belmont and Odin are forced into a relentless struggle for survival after the crash leaves them isolated in the Alaskan backcountry.
“Together, they are forced into a brutal fight for survival against the elements,” the description reads. The film promises to explore the bond between a soldier and his loyal canine companion as they face increasingly dangerous circumstances.
The project continues a busy stretch for Pitt, who remains one of Hollywood’s most bankable stars decades into his career.
In addition to Heart of the Beast, Pitt is preparing to revisit one of his most beloved characters in The Adventures of Cliff Booth. The upcoming film will bring back the stuntman character he portrayed in Quentin Tarantino’s 2019 hit Once Upon a Time in… Hollywood.
The role earned Pitt an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor and quickly became a fan favorite.
Speaking about the project last year, Pitt explained that while Tarantino wrote the script, he ultimately chose not to direct it.
“This is something Quentin Tarantino wrote. It’s an episode, not really a sequel, of the character from Once Upon A Time,” Pitt told Deadline. “He didn’t want to direct it at this point, so our mutual friend David Fincher stepped in.”
Filming on that project is expected to begin soon.
The trailer’s release also arrived amid renewed attention on Pitt’s personal life. Reports surfaced this week that his daughter Zahara has formally sought to remove Pitt from her surname and be known as Zahara Marley Jolie. The move follows a similar decision by daughter Shiloh, who previously petitioned to drop Pitt from her last name as well.
The developments are the latest chapter in the long-running family tensions that have followed Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s separation in 2016.
Despite the personal headlines, Pitt’s professional momentum shows little sign of slowing. At 62, he continues to land major leading roles, headline blockbuster productions, and draw the kind of audience enthusiasm that few actors can match.
