Here we are in 2023, which means there are five more “woke” laws in California that have gone into effect and the state is even more difficult for conservatives. The progressives in the state keep showing their political muscle.
The first of the five laws were signed by “woke” Gov. Newsom in September, it is known as SB 107 and it makes California a “sanctuary state” for transgender kids. They will protect the use of drugs or surgery to provide “gender-affirming care” to kids who travel to California from states that have more restrictive policies so that minors can have the life-changing surgery.
Sen. Scott Weiner (D-Calif) said that the new legislation offers “refuge” to trans minors and their families “if they’re being criminalized in their home states.”
SB 1375 will allow nurses to perform abortions without the help of a doctor with a medical license. This bill was passed alongside a referendum guaranteeing the right to abortion and contraception.
The third law is the Covid misinformation law. It will require medical licensing boards in the state to take disciplinary action against doctors who are involved with the “dissemination of misinformation or disinformation related to the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, or ‘COVID-19’.”
Newsom also signed a law decriminalizing jaywalking because of “racism” which is titled the “Freedom to Walk Act.” It prevents law enforcement from stopping people who are crossing the street not at a crosswalk unless they are in visible danger. The law states that jaywalking is a racist crime because it is enforced unfairly in “communities of color.”
And the fifth law is state control of fast-food restaurants which creates a ten-member politburo allowing them to set wages and working conditions for the fast-food industry.
A group of restaurants collected petition signatures against the law and sued so the law has been put on hold.
