A Texas political figure with a lengthy history of election-related legal troubles is facing renewed scrutiny after a video circulating online appeared to show him making harsh comments about the U.S. military, American veterans, and the country itself.
Zul Mohamed, a Pakistani-American who has repeatedly sought elected office in Texas, became widely known after pleading guilty in 2024 to more than 100 felony charges connected to a mail-ballot fraud scheme tied to his unsuccessful 2020 mayoral campaign in Carrollton.
Now, a newly resurfaced video has placed him back in the spotlight.
According to footage shared on social media, Mohamed appeared at a Frisco, Texas event known as the “Rally Against Rednecks,” where protesters confronted participants attending a competing “Rednecks Rally.” During the exchange, Mohamed can allegedly be heard making remarks that quickly drew outrage online.

In the video, Mohamed appears to say, “No vet has made any sacrifice. I want to make that clear. I do not support the U.S. military. No, I do not support the United States. I look down on both entities.”
The clip spread rapidly across social media platforms, generating criticism from veterans, conservative activists, and political commentators.
Among those responding was ACT for America founder Brigitte Gabriel, who posted, “The enemy is already inside the gates.”
The controversy comes against the backdrop of Mohamed’s well-documented legal history.
According to court records previously obtained by The Heritage Foundation and reports from Texas media outlets, Mohamed pleaded guilty to 106 felony counts related to voter fraud after a years-long legal battle. Investigators alleged that he fraudulently obtained mail-ballot applications and directed ballots to a virtual mailbox established under a false identity.
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton’s office announced Mohamed’s arrest in 2020, accusing him of dozens of counts involving mail-ballot application fraud and unlawful possession of official ballots.
Authorities later alleged that Mohamed spent years delaying court proceedings before ultimately entering guilty pleas to nearly all of the charges.
A Texas jury eventually sentenced him to ten years of probation, more than 180 hours of community service, and four years in prison, according to reporting by The Dallas Express.
Despite the conviction, Mohamed mounted another run for mayor of Carrollton in 2026 while continuing to appeal aspects of his case. He ultimately lost the election to Steve Babick.
His legal troubles did not end there.

In 2025, authorities charged Mohamed with allegedly sending fake jury summons postcards to residents shortly before a court appearance connected to his voter-fraud case.
The latest controversy surrounding his comments about veterans and the military has reignited debate over his continued political involvement.
Adding another layer to the story, reports indicate that during Mohamed’s 2024 sentencing proceedings, a Texas jury accepted testimony from his defense team asserting that he suffers from mental illness.
Whether the latest video generates additional consequences remains unclear. What is certain is that Mohamed’s name continues to surface for reasons that have little to do with traditional political campaigning and much more to do with controversy.
