Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is has grabbed the bull by the horns.
DeSantis announced that he is going to be suing the Center for Disease Control for exceeding their authority to close American businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Do you want one unelected bureaucracy to be able to have the power to indefinitely shut down a major industry in this country?” said DeSantis, speaking on the continued stalling of allowing cruise ships to run again, and the avoidance of Florida due to DeSantis’ ban on vaccine passports. “They do not have that authority to do it, thats why were suing them.”
DeSantis pointed out that it makes no sense that cruise ships avoid Florida because of the vaccine passport ban.
“Now here we are over a year later and there’s no end in sight. Now they say you can only cruise if you have 98% people show proof of vaccination, but that’s ridiculous,” said DeSantis. “They’re cruising in other parts of the world where they don’t even have availability of vaccines yet, where they have much higher Covid than in the United States.”
DeSantis pointed out just how ridiculous the CDC has been lately and that they are playing politics not using science.
“This has implications for potentially any industry and look, with all due respect to the CDC, I mean if you look at some of the stuff that they’ve done on school openings, where they’re basically doing the teacher’s union’s bidding, when they say these kids should be masked in summer camp outdoors. I’m sorry, that’s not science, that’s politics.”
DeSantis lawsuit is in response to the news that Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings said the company will cease coming to Florida if they are not allowed to turn away unvaccinated people.
“At the end of the day, cruise ships have motors, propellers and rudders, and God forbid we can’t operate in the state of Florida for whatever reason, then there are other states that we do operate from. And we can operate from the Caribbean for ships that otherwise would’ve gone to Florida,” Frank Del Rio, Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings CEO, told investors.
Norwegian Cruise lines has their own gripes with the CDC, they say it’s ridiculous for everyone to wear a mask if everyone on board is vaccinated.
