For most people, driving for DoorDash is about as straightforward a job as it gets.
Accept an order. Pick up the food. Deliver it to the customer.
That’s the entire assignment.
One New York delivery driver, however, allegedly decided to turn those deliveries into a form of political protest—and it cost her access to the platform.
According to screenshots shared by the X account Libs of TikTok, a DoorDash driver using the screen name “nixxslingerland” claimed she repeatedly canceled deliveries destined for a nearby Department of Homeland Security detention facility, then redirected the food to a local food pantry.

In one post, the driver wrote, “Just dropped off another cancelled nazi DoorDash to my free pantry and was handed this large bag of m&ms in return… I love communism.”
In another, the driver explained what she claimed had become a routine practice.
“For new people who are unaware, there’s unfortunately a detention center right in my town, and every single time I contact support and tell them they need to remove the location completely, I doubt they ever will, but it still feels good getting their orders cancelled and donating their food.”
If the posts accurately describe what occurred, the driver was intentionally preventing paying customers from receiving orders they had purchased while using the platform to advance a political cause.
DoorDash responded quickly after the screenshots circulated online.
In a statement posted on X, the company confirmed that the driver’s account had been deactivated and explained that the decision involved multiple violations of company policy.
“This Dasher’s account has been deactivated. Misusing the safety-unassign feature to intentionally cancel orders and redirect the food based on where it’s going is theft and a violation of both our Community Guidelines and Platform Access Policy,” DoorDash said.
The company added that the driver also violated its policies during conversations with customer support.
“When our support team attempted to address their report and explain our policies, the individual was abusive toward the agent, which is a separate violation.”

The incident quickly spread across social media, with critics arguing that political beliefs do not justify interfering with purchases made by customers, regardless of who those customers happen to be. Others noted that businesses relying on delivery platforms expect orders to reach their intended destination, not to be rerouted based on a driver’s personal views.
DoorDash’s response leaves little ambiguity about how it views that conduct. The company stated that intentionally canceling orders and redirecting food based on the destination violates its policies and results in deactivation from the platform.
Whether the driver’s actions were intended as activism or protest, the company’s position was straightforward: delivery drivers are expected to complete the orders they accept, not decide which customers deserve to receive them.
