Marcus Coleman stood before a House subcommittee to reject the sympathy offered by Democratic lawmakers regarding his daughter’s severe injuries. He told the panel that not one member had ever reached out to his family during their long ordeal. Coleman accused the politicians of only caring when they are inside the room ready to grandstand on their soapbox.
His seven-year-old daughter, Dalilah, suffered a fractured skull and traumatic brain injury in a June 2024 crash in California. An 18-wheeler piloted by an illegal immigrant from India who secured a commercial driver’s license was involved in the crash. According to Fox News Politics, the truck was traveling at 60 mph when it slammed into the vehicle Dalilah was riding in.

Before the impact, the driver, identified as Partap Singh, did not stop for traffic in a construction zone. RedState reported that Dalilah remained in a coma for three weeks and spent six months in the hospital. She now requires lifelong therapy to manage the permanent disabilities she suffered that day.
Coleman spoke directly to the lawmakers during the House Judiciary Subcommittee hearing on immigration integrity. He stated that his family has received no support from the officials present in the room. “Not one of you guys have ever called me,” Coleman said, according to RedState. “Not one of you guys has ever reached out to me.”
He emphasized that his daughter did not ask for the tragedy that changed her life forever. Per Fox News Politics, the father stated, “She didn’t ask for any of this.” He told the committee that the people who jumped the fence knew exactly what they were doing. “They still chose to move forward in that direction,” Coleman said.
Coleman placed the blame for the accident squarely on the sanctuary policies supported by the Democrats in the room. He told them that every day something happens to somebody and it is their fault. “I hold each and every one of you responsible for it, and I always will,” he said.

The hearing focused on the tragic consequences of liberal sanctuary policies that allowed the driver to operate a commercial vehicle. According to The Daily Caller, President Donald Trump introduced Dalilah’s Law during his most recent State of the Union address. This proposed legislation would restrict illegal aliens’ eligibility to obtain a commercial driver’s license.
Coleman shared how the accident has ruined his ability to work and support his family financially. He told the committee that he is no longer truck driving and does not make the money they used to make. “I’m now pinching pennies,” he said. He rejected the pity of the politicians while they debated the issue that took his daughter’s health.
“I reject your guys’ sympathy, to be honest,” Coleman said, per RedState. He made it clear that this is the only time the lawmakers seem to care about the issue. “Right here inside this room is the only time you guys care,” he said. The story remains unconfirmed whether any specific bill number has been filed yet beyond the initial introduction.
