Some are homesick others are done with the charades.
Texas State Rep. Philip Cortez announced he’s headed back to Texas and leaving his fugitive colleagues in DC.
“I proudly stood with my Democratic colleagues and left Texas to ensure House Bill 3 would not be approved as introduced. A small working group of Democrats decided to begin active discussions here in Austin on improving HB 3 and asked that I return to establish open communication lines,” Cortez said. “I returned to Texas to try to engage in good faith dialogue about the aspects of the bill that I, and others, think are harmful.”
Cortez is tapping out and he’s not alone, Rep. Harold Dutton has also returned to the Lone Star state.
Abhi Rahmen, spokesperson for the Texas Democrats claimed no other members plan on returning to Texas however some members are ready to return home.
Rep. Gina Hinojosa admitted her political stunt is hurting her kids.
“I’ve had to break those promises to my kids,” Rep. Gina Hinojosa said. “I didn’t anticipate this. I didn’t expect to be here. I expected to be with my family. But this fight is that important.”
The arrogance and hypocrsy displayed by the group of legislators is mind numbing.
Not only are they responsible for a COVID outbreak Texas Democrat State Legislator, Donna Howard – who fled maskless in a private jet to DC – is now demanding mask mandates.
“We need to follow the science here,” Howard wrote. “Texas needs to change course and allow for universal mask-wearing to prevent spread of the highly contagious delta variant, especially as children under 12 cannot get vaccinated yet.”
