Federal Rhode Island Judge Issue Ruling On Trump Case

Here we go again. Another day, another unelected federal judge decided that elections don’t actually matter when Republicans win. This time, it’s a judge in Rhode Island who has taken it upon himself to override the Trump administration’s authority and force taxpayers to keep funding left-wing pet projects overseas. You read that right—American workers struggling to make ends meet now have to keep paying for gender studies programs in foreign countries because some activist in a robe says so.

The Trump administration had put a spending freeze on all these absurd USAID grants that were funneling money into diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives abroad. You’d think the federal government has more pressing concerns than making sure NGOs in Pakistan are up to speed on transgender ideology, but apparently, the left disagrees. Now, thanks to this rogue judge, the Biden-era spending spree on social engineering projects will continue—whether Americans like it or not.

It’s hard to see this as anything but a soft coup. The judiciary is supposed to interpret laws, not dictate executive policy. But when Democrats can’t get what they want through elections, they just run to the courts and find a judge willing to do their bidding. And make no mistake, this is a well-rehearsed play. They did it throughout Trump’s first term, using legally dubious temporary restraining orders (TROs) to tie up everything from border security to foreign policy in endless litigation. And now they’re doing it again, hoping to hamstring the administration before it even gets off the ground.

In this case, the judge didn’t just enforce the original restraining order—he expanded it beyond the scope of the complaint, something he had no legal authority to do. But that’s the game, isn’t it? Keep issuing rulings that are impossible to appeal in the short term, creating a legal purgatory where the administration is stuck following the whims of activist judges. It’s a blatant abuse of power, and it’s designed to ensure that the left stays in control even when they lose elections.

There’s a possible solution, though: filing for mandamus. That’s a fancy legal term for telling the appellate court that this judge has stepped way out of bounds and needs to be reined in. It’s an extreme measure, but we’re in extreme times. The left is playing hardball, and conservatives can’t afford to keep acting like these fights will resolve themselves.

This isn’t just about a single ruling. It’s about whether the executive branch—the one elected by the people—actually has the power to govern. If left-wing judges can override the president whenever they feel like it, then democracy is a joke. That’s why this issue needs to go straight to the Supreme Court. The longer this nonsense continues, the more it erodes the constitutional authority of the presidency.

Democrats were never going to just sit back and let Trump be president. They spent four years in court trying to block everything he did, and now they’re doing it all over again. The difference this time? Republicans know the game. And they’re going to have to fight back—because the left isn’t going to stop until they’re forced to.
