Goldberg Posts Video Following Bakery Comments

Whoopi Goldberg tried to turn a dessert order into a political scandal, and it backfired spectacularly. Last week, The View co-host accused a Staten Island bakery of potentially refusing her 48-dessert birthday order because of her politics.

Without naming the bakery, she alleged they “didn’t like [her] politics” and suggested their explanation of “equipment issues” was a flimsy cover. But now, the bakery—identified as Holtermann’s Bakery—has not only set the record straight but also become the toast of Staten Island, with lines around the block from supportive customers. Sweet revenge, indeed.

Here’s the story: Goldberg claimed the bakery couldn’t process her dessert order due to equipment failures. Yet, when someone else called in the same order under a different name, it was allegedly filled. To Whoopi, this smelled like political discrimination. However, Holtermann’s—a 145-year-old family-run business—insisted the delay was due to legitimate equipment issues. Jill Holtermann, the bakery’s co-owner, tearfully explained during a press conference that they couldn’t commit to such a large order in advance when they weren’t sure their aging machinery would be operational. Fair enough, right?

But Goldberg wasn’t having it. She doubled down on Instagram, saying, “It does seem a little odd” that the desserts were eventually made for someone else. Cue the eye rolls. Meanwhile, Staten Island residents rushed to the bakery’s defense, showing up en masse to support the business. Holtermann’s has become a local hero, with customers lining up in droves for their pastries, proving that America still loves the underdog—especially when they’re wrongly accused.

What’s most striking here is the bakery’s poise in the face of Goldberg’s baseless allegations. A family member of the bakery’s owners even responded on Instagram, explaining the timeline of events and calling out Goldberg for turning a simple business decision into a “victimized political agenda.” They nailed it: “No politics necessary.”

“Whoopi- My family was not going to commit to an order two weeks out when they didn’t know if the boiler could work properly on that day to produce that specific product. When we knew we could come through, closer to the date of delivery, that’s when it was confirmed that you could have your desserts. This is what good business practice is, plain and simple. No politics necessary. As for not naming us….. Well that goes without saying, clearly everyone knew who you were referring to. Your defamation of our hard working family for your victimized political agenda is pitiful, no matter what side of the politics spectrum you are on,” the post stated.

People are rallying behind the bakery, and it’s a beautiful thing.

This isn’t the first time The View has tried to manufacture a controversy, but it’s a textbook example of how out-of-touch elitism can backfire. Goldberg tried to frame herself as the victim of political discrimination, but the real victims here are a hardworking family trying to run a century-old business. The result? Holtermann’s is now more popular than ever, while Goldberg’s credibility takes yet another hit. Let’s hope the next time Whoopi wants a dessert, she orders with a slice of humility on the side.
