House Republicans on Tuesday unveiled a timeline of the Biden family’s alleged influence-peddling schemes, which they say raise serious questions about the former vice president’s potential conflicts of interest.
“President Biden has repeatedly denied knowing anything about his family’s business dealings despite evidence to the contrary,” the GOP-led House Oversight Committee said in a tweet.
“Our timeline contains important dates as to when Joe Biden knew and lied to the American people about his family’s business schemes,” the panel added.
The timeline, which was compiled by the House Oversight Committee, details a number of meetings and events involving Hunter Biden, Joe Biden, and foreign business interests. It includes meetings between Hunter Biden and Chinese energy executives, as well as a meeting between Joe Biden and a Ukrainian prosecutor who was investigating Burisma Holdings, a Ukrainian natural gas company on whose board Hunter Biden served.
The timeline also includes a number of emails and text messages that suggest that Hunter Biden used his father’s position as vice president to benefit his own business interests. For example, one email from Hunter Biden to a business associate suggests that he was able to secure a meeting with a Chinese energy executive because of his father’s position.
The House Republicans say that the timeline raises serious questions about the Biden family’s business dealings and whether Joe Biden used his position as vice president to enrich his family. They are calling on the Justice Department to investigate the allegations.
The timeline is the latest in a series of investigations into the Biden family’s business dealings. In December, the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee released a report that found that Hunter Biden had “numerous conflicts of interest” while his father was vice president.
