These two should go on the road! White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre (KJP) and Fox News White House correspondent Peter Doocy are the new rivals to watch, and they were at it once again at the latest briefing at the White House.
Doocy went toe to toe with KJP and asked her how the president could be “irresponsible” with classified documents.
Attorneys for the president discovered 10 classified documents in his private office, and recently there were more discovered elsewhere. The first round of documents was related to Ukraine, Iran, and the U.K.
Biden was “unaware” of the documents until the White House notified him, according to CNN.
“On these documents, how can anyone be that irresponsible? Isn’t that what this president says about mishandling classified documents?” Doocy asked.
KJP responded, “The president spoke to this personally, again, he believes that classified documents and information should be taken seriously. He takes them seriously and he was surprised to learn—.”
That’s when Doocy interrupted and said that it looks like he does not take them seriously.
KJP disagreed with Doocy and went on to explain how the lawyers found the documents and immediately turned them over to the National Archives. She also reiterated that Biden takes this all “very seriously.”
Doocy wasn’t having it, he asked KJP how the president “can be trusted” with the possession of classified information.
Jean-Pierre jumped back into the same old narrative saying that Biden was surprised when his lawyers found the documents and immediately turned them over to the Archives. She said that the Department of Justice is reviewing them.
So the bottom line is that once again, KJP failed to really answer Doocy’s question. We don’t know how Biden could have been so irresponsible and we surely don’t know whether we can really trust him.
We’ll learn more when these two enter the ring for the next round.
