OK, maybe all of California should not break off from the mainland and float out into the Pacific.
The Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade and turned the matter over to where it should be, the people of each state.
California as a state has not surprised anyone. California Governor Gavin Newsom has declared the state a sanctuary for abortion rights.
Newsom and his legislative gang of cohorts assume that every woman in their state is on board with their progressive agenda. They have prepared a ballot measure to enshrine the right to an abortion in the state constitution.
But not so fast, Gavin.
There are some Californians who think more clearly, but they don’t get the press the left gets.
According to Fox News 11, there is a San Clemente councilman who wants the council to consider a Resolution declaring the city a Pro-Life sanctuary.
Councilman Steven Knoblock has written and proposed that San Clemente consider a resolution that would ban abortions and declare the city a “sanctuary for life” as it becomes an abortion-free zone.
Knoblock recently spoke before other council members saying, “my request is that the city council consider resolutions basically supporting the concept of life.”
The ordinance was seconded by Mayor Gene James but was opposed by council members Kathy Ward, Chris Duncan, and Laura Ferguson.
“This is not a city issue,” said Council member Ward.
“It’s going to cause a lot of problems with the council. You’re going to make half the people in the city unhappy?” she said.
San Clemente Mayor Gene James said, “There’s no issue more important to me than protecting the unborn. However, are we prepared to fill this room with people yelling at each other?”
Can this good mayor please run for governor?
That part of California needs to stay connected to the mainland.
