Mayorkas Holds Press Conference during Arizona Visit

Hello everyone. Today, we’re diving into a heated topic surrounding Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas and his recent claims about border security.

During a press conference at the Davis-Monthan Air Force Base in Tucson, Arizona, Mayorkas asserted that President Joe Biden has successfully secured the U.S. border. However, this statement has sparked significant controversy and criticism.

Mayorkas stated, “The President took action. The border security steps we have taken over the past 18 months are bringing order.” Yet, despite these claims, reports and real-life incidents tell a different story. One reporter at the conference highlighted the brutal crimes committed by illegal immigrants, questioning the effectiveness of the current vetting process.

The reporter referenced a tragic case involving Franklin Jose Pena Ramos and Johan Jose Rangel, who were released by border agents in March and later arrested for the rape and murder of a 12-year-old girl named Jocelyn Nungaray. This case exemplifies the gaps in the vetting process that Mayorkas claimed were secure. Ramos was part of the Alternatives to Detention program, which uses GPS monitors or regular check-ins via phone systems to monitor individuals. Despite these measures, Ramos committed a heinous crime, raising serious concerns about the program’s efficacy.

The House Judiciary Committee revealed that over 617,000 criminal aliens, not subject to detainment orders, are “free to re-offend.” Between 2014 and 2020, more than 53,000 migrants absconded from monitoring programs, with their whereabouts unknown. The number of illegal aliens on ICE’s non-detained docket has surged under the Biden administration, from 3.2 million in 2020 to 7.4 million today.

Mayorkas’s reassurances, stating that the safety of the American people is “indeed our highest priority” and that individuals are “screened and vetted when we encounter them,” seem hollow in light of these facts. The tragic case of Jocelyn Nungaray and the broader statistics paint a grim picture of the current state of border security.

Critics argue that the Biden administration’s policies are failing to keep the border secure, leading to devastating consequences for American families. The administration’s handling of border security is under intense scrutiny, with many questioning whether the measures in place are sufficient to protect the public.
