It is interesting to watch how GOP leaders are responding to the lukewarm 2022 midterms. The surprising results have left many on the right scrambling for positions of influence and power in the chaotic Republican Party.
Tucker Carlson with Fox News declared that those on the right should not “reward mediocrity.” And it seems that My Pillow CEO Mike Lindell has taken Carlson’s warning to heart. Lindell announced on Monday that he will run against Ronna McDaniel to become the next chairman of the Republican National Committee. Former President Donald Trump immediately endorsed him for the position.
Lindell appeared on Monday with Steve Bannon on his War Room podcast. He said this of his candidacy: “With all my due diligence and in prayer, I am 100 percent running for RNC chairman against Ronna McDaniel,” Lindell said. “It’s going to change real fast. We’re going to get our country right, really quick.”
One of Lindell’s top concerns about the GOP structure is that they raise “money and then they don’t do anything with election crime.” He said that as chairman he would focus on election integrity. And he also noted that he would like to get the party to support Donald Trump-endorsed candidates like Kari Lake and Mark Finchem of Arizona.
The My Pillow CEO revealed that he had the support of many major party donors and that he planned to call all 168 committee members in an attempt to get McDaniel out of the position.
Lindell told Axios that he did not call Trump before announcing his decision. He said that it was his decision. The truth is that although Lindell and Trump have been together a lot in the past, it could be a headache for Trump to support Lindell’s fun for the RNC chair when he begins campaigning for the 2024 presidential election.
BREAKING: Mike Lindell just announced that he’s running against Ronna McDaniel for GOP chair — and Trump has already endorsed the My Pillow Guy.
This is going to be good!! 🍿🍿
