News Hosts Comments Stir Debate Following Report

A recent CNN segment featuring Dana Bash has reignited longstanding concerns about media bias—this time, in the aftermath of two devastating storms hitting opposite ends of the country. The contrast in coverage is stark and unmistakable.

When Hurricane Helene struck North Carolina, causing widespread flooding and damage across the state, Bash offered an impassioned defense of the Biden administration’s response.

Despite lingering devastation and residents still pleading for help, Bash praised federal efforts, portraying the recovery effort as coordinated and compassionate. For many on the ground in the Tar Heel State, that narrative doesn’t match the reality.

Then came the tragic floods in central Texas. With over 100 confirmed dead and ongoing search efforts for missing residents, the devastation was immediate and brutal. Yet instead of rallying around the victims or acknowledging the speed of the federal response, liberal media outlets swiftly turned the disaster into a political weapon against President Donald Trump.

Bash, in particular, pivoted from defending Biden’s disaster management to criticizing Trump for supposed cuts to the National Weather Service (NWS)—cuts that, notably, haven’t even gone into effect.

In fact, reports confirm that the NWS had extra staff on duty during the central Texas storms and issued flash flood warnings well in advance. Claims of unpreparedness have been discredited, but that hasn’t stopped partisan narratives from being repeated across social media and mainstream outlets.

The double standard is impossible to ignore. The same commentators who cheered Biden’s every move in North Carolina lambasted Trump in Texas with no regard for facts or consistency.

The situation has been made worse by leftist social media users wishing suffering and death on Texans affected by the flood—disgraceful behavior that has remained largely uncondemned by national figures on the Left.

As Tropical Storm Chantal brought even more flooding to North Carolina this week, the media continued its selective outrage. Climate change wasn’t mentioned. Neither was Biden. But in Texas, the same natural event was politicized and used to resurrect debunked narratives.
