Marcy Kaptur Rebuked By Lucas County Democrats Over Trans Vote Ad

Last week, Lucas County Democrats publicly criticized Rep. Marcy Kaptur regarding a campaign ad. The Ohio Democrat touted her vote against transgender ideology in schools. Her own party shared a statement on Facebook calling the language hurtful. We anticipate this kind of damaging advertisement from Derek Merrin and the Republicans.

The local party leaders said they were disappointed and ashamed by the ad. They claimed Kaptur stooped to the level of her opponent, Derek Merrin. Kaptur stated in the ad that she voted with Republicans to keep the ideology out of schools. She argued that parents know what is best for their kids.

Ohio Republican Party Chairman Alex Triantafilou noticed the statement from the Democrats. He told the Daily Signal that this situation shows the chaos in the other party. Triantafilou stated that Kaptur has held office for four decades. He noted that being rebuked by her own party suggests she needs to leave.

He posted on X about the stunning development from Lucas County Democrats. Triantafilou mentioned his past role as Hamilton County GOP chairman. He said he cannot imagine undermining a candidate fighting for their political life. He pointed out that the election is just 41 days away.

Triantafilou added that chaos abounds in the Democratic Party. His post warned the Democratic leadership that this is not their job. He emphasized that the candidate is vulnerable and needs support right now. The timing of this split is critical for the race.

The Kaptur campaign defended the congresswoman’s record in a statement to the Daily Signal. Spokesperson Kylie Blitzer said Marcy supports parents having more insight into education. She clarified that Kaptur corrected the record concerning her vote with Republicans. The objective involved granting parents greater influence within the classroom.

Blitzer stated that Kaptur believes parents and coaches should set the rules. She said local sports associations must ensure girls’ sports stay fair. She argued that politicians in Washington should not make these decisions.
