Michelle Obama added a zinger that had everyone talking: “Who’s gonna tell him that the job he’s currently seeking might just be one of those ‘black jobs’?” Now, before you grab your pitchforks, let’s be clear. Trump used the term “black jobs” in the context of jobs held by black Americans being threatened by new migrants in the labor market. It wasn’t meant as a racial jab, but of course, in the world of politics, context can be a tricky thing.

It’s no secret that the Obamas have had a bone to pick with Trump ever since he put Barack Obama’s birth certificate in the spotlight. Remember that whole fiasco? After years of speculation and pressure, Obama finally released his original Hawaii birth certificate in 2011, all because of Trump’s relentless questioning. And let’s not forget, that whole “born abroad” rumor was fueled, in part, by Obama’s own literary agent, who mistakenly claimed he was born overseas in the 1990s. Oops.
But, here’s the kicker, folks—Michelle Obama made her speech all about Trump and racism, yet somehow managed to avoid mentioning the guy actually running the country right now: President Joe Biden. Interesting choice, wouldn’t you say? It’s almost like she’s saying the quiet part out loud. Perhaps she’s saving that for another time, or maybe she knows something we don’t. Either way, the absence was loud and clear.
