For decades, Pelosi has been the face of San Francisco politics in Washington — and, critics argue, the walking embodiment of its far-left drift. On the menu: staunch support for abortion on demand, open advocacy for gender-transition procedures on minors, and a constant stream of progressive virtue signaling. To her base, it’s steadfast conviction. To everyone else, it’s proof she’s been in power far too long.

Her delivery is halting, her points scattered, and somewhere in the mix, she circles back to her prized trans flag display like it’s the crown jewel of her career. For many, it’s a reminder that Pelosi’s political priorities seem more rooted in niche activist causes than in the kitchen-table issues Americans are actually worried about — like inflation, border security, or crime.


Calls for her to step aside have been growing for years, even among Democrats quietly wishing their party’s elder stateswoman would pass the torch. But Pelosi has made a career of defying predictions, fending off rivals, and clinging to the reins.

And with each appearance like this one, her critics get fresh ammunition to argue that her time — and her message — have long since passed their sell-by date.
