Nancy Pelosi didn’t just “get testy” this week—she completely lost control.
On Wednesday, as she exited the Capitol, Pelosi was hit with what should’ve been a straightforward, fair question: Why didn’t you authorize the National Guard on January 6? The inquiry came from Lindell TV’s Alison Steinberg, who merely echoed a concern that’s been simmering beneath the surface for nearly three years.

Rather than answer, Pelosi exploded:
“Shut up! I did not refuse the National Guard. The president didn’t send it. Why are you coming here with Republican talking points, as if you’re a serious journalist?”
That outburst wasn’t just defensive—it was revealing. Because for the first time in a long time, Pelosi is on the back foot. House Republicans are reopening the January 6 investigation—this time not to craft a narrative, but to deconstruct one. And unlike the highly partisan January 6 Select Committee, this panel will be looking not just at the riot itself, but at what led up to it: the ignored warnings, the breakdown in security, and the political decisions that allowed the breach to happen.
Nancy lost it because she knows she’s in trouble. Yes, she did ignore @ChiefSund‘s repeated and increasingly frantic requests to authorize the National Guard backup for his outnumbered troops on J6. Even after the Capitol was breached she refused to give the go-ahead. Her… https://t.co/rKplPXma9w

Enter Miranda Devine, who nailed the moment in a post on X:
“Nancy lost it because she knows she’s in trouble. Yes, she did ignore @ChiefSund’s repeated and increasingly frantic requests to authorize the National Guard backup for his outnumbered troops on J6… Even after the Capitol was breached she refused to give the go-ahead.”
That’s not a partisan swipe—it’s consistent with the account of Steven Sund, the U.S. Capitol Police Chief on that day. Sund has repeatedly stated that his urgent requests for reinforcements were delayed and denied. His own sergeant at arms told him he was waiting for “approval from above.” That “above” was Nancy Pelosi, who as Speaker of the House was directly responsible for Capitol security through the House Sergeant at Arms.

And it’s not just the delay that’s damning—it’s what happened next. Once the Capitol was breached and it became politically convenient, the very leadership that failed to secure the building turned around and used the incident to launch a narrative war against Trump and his supporters. The January 6 Committee was never about a full accounting. It was a made-for-TV prosecution, designed to protect Democrats politically, justify federal crackdowns, and bury any inquiry into how leadership—including Pelosi herself—let the situation spiral out of control.
Pelosi also infamously claimed Trump supporters defecated in the Capitol—a detail that was never substantiated but helped fuel the emotional frenzy needed to pass sweeping security bills, deploy thousands of troops to D.C., and push the “insurrection” narrative with maximum political impact.

Now that the House is finally turning its attention to her role in that day, the panic is showing.
Because for all the talk about Trump’s responsibility, it’s becoming increasingly clear that there were catastrophic failures at the leadership level—failures that were buried under layers of partisan messaging. And as more information comes to light, the carefully constructed scaffolding around Pelosi’s story is starting to shake.
