We were told that after impeachment troops would leave Washington DC however that no longer seems to be the case.
Republicans are demanding an answer but now it seems that Washington DC will continue to be a militarized zone until at least the fall.
According to a report from the DCist, Robert Salesses, assistant Secretary for Homeland Defense wrote in an email there will be an extended timeline to keep troops in the city.
“If it’s not possible to sustain at the current level with [National Guard] personnel, we need to establish the number of NG personnel (DCNG and out-of-state) we can sustain for an extended period — at least through Fall 2021,” Salesses wrote in a January 20 email obtained by FOX 5.
He added that officials should consider “additional options for providing [Department of Defense] support, to include use of reserve personnel, as well as active component.”
Republicans are demanding that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi explain herself.
Rep. Lisa McClain (R-MI) who is on the House Armed Services Committee explained what’s going on.
“Why do we need these troops here?” She said during an appearance on Fox and Friends “It’s amazing to me that [Pelosi] can do this without any disclosure, without any information and just continue to spend money with no briefing,” she declared. “Doesn’t make sense to me.”
McClain has asked for a briefing but have received zero information from Pelosi or the Biden administration.
Pelosi is silent and the DHS seems to be extending troops deployments in the city.
They claimed Trump was a fascist and was using the military as his personal army during the summer riots. Now that impeachment is over it appears that Pelosi and the Democrats are using National Guard as their little army.
Joe Biden (like it or not) is the commander in chief and there needs to be a public explanation detailing how long troops will be in the Capitol, how long they’ll be there, and why are they needed.
