Protests Continue Regarding Trump Policy

On Monday evening, the narrative in Los Angeles took a hard turn—and so did the credibility of California’s progressive power structure. As downtown LA simmered under the lights of another night of anti-ICE demonstrations, it was no longer the progressive establishment calling the shots. It was the unmistakable stamp of federal authority, ushered in by President Trump’s no-nonsense command: restore order.

And order, it seems, has returned.

Gone are the scenes from the weekend—burning autonomous vehicles, shutdowns of major arteries like the 101, and ICE officers being swarmed in the streets. In their place? National Guard formations, Marine units standing watch, and LAPD actually doing what they’re paid to do. Not coincidentally, this sudden about-face from paralysis to enforcement came after Trump publicly humiliated state and city officials for their failure to act.

Governor Gavin Newsom, Mayor Karen Bass, and the rest of California’s progressive cohort, including Senator Adam Schiff, Kamala Harris, and Nancy Pelosi, had spent the weekend denouncing federal involvement. But as the dust settles, the optics are clear: while they postured, the president delivered.

It echoes the broader shift that’s taken place at the national level—particularly at the southern border. Just last month, the number of illegal crossings dropped to 8,450—the lowest level in 25 years. Contrast that with the six-figure chaos under the Biden administration, and the message is unmistakable: it was never a matter of ability, only resolve. “All we really needed was a new president,” Trump declared in March, and these recent events are a real-time case study.

The irony is staggering. Just 48 hours ago, these same officials were insisting that the violent unrest was “mostly peaceful.” Now, with the federal boot on the ground, that narrative has evaporated faster than the tear gas in the downtown air.

And while the president’s actions have drawn predictable howls from progressives, the results speak for themselves. If the approach now deployed in Los Angeles had been taken during the 2020 riots—when major cities were allowed to descend into chaos under the guise of free expression—the country might have looked very different today. Instead, the ideological leaders of California opted for policies of appeasement, where criminals were coddled and law-abiding citizens told to keep their heads down.

Not anymore.

The myth that “nothing can be done” has been obliterated. Trump’s intervention shows that accountability is not only possible—it’s effective. While fringe agitators are still active, they’re no longer operating with impunity. They’re being arrested, identified, and prosecuted under federal statutes like the Hobbs Act. The message is clear: you riot, you loot, you assault officers—you’ll face consequences.
