Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene Has Some High Aspirations

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., is maneuvering to be on Donald Trump’s ticket in 2024. According to two people, the second-term congresswoman wants to be the former president’s running mate.

“This is no shrinking violet. She’s ambitious — she’s not shy about that, nor should she be,” said Steve Bannon, the former top Trump aide who hosts the “Bannon’s War Room” podcast. “She sees herself on the short list for Trump’s VP.”

Bannon went further paraphrasing Cokie Roberts, “When MTG looks in the mirror she sees a potential president smiling back.”

Someone who has served Greene as an advisor said that her “whole vision” is to be vice president. This same source has ties to Trump and only spoke on condition of anonymity.

Apparently, her recent goal is to rebrand herself as a politician who can stand astride the divide between the party’s hard-liners and its establishment wing.

This vision is one of the reasons that she threw herself into helping elect Rep. Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., speaker of the House. It is also why she took an assignment of two strategic committees, Homeland Security and Oversight and Accountability.

This will enable her to participate in high-profile investigations of President Joe Biden’s administration.

“She’s both strategic and disciplined — she made a power move, knowing it would run up hard against her most ardent crew,” Bannon said. “She was prepared to take the intense heat/hatred short-term for the long-term goal of being a player.”

Trump has not given any real insight into whether he is seriously considering a vice presidential pick this early in the process. His aids did not respond to questions about Greene’s chances of ending up on the Trump ticket.

Only time will tell and a whole lot can happen between now and when Trump finally makes the call.
