Well, would you look at that—Elon Musk and his Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) team started pulling back the curtain on USAID, and suddenly, Democrats are shrieking like they just discovered their tax-funded slush fund is under review. The level of hysteria coming from the “tofu-eating wokeratti,” as Sen. John Kennedy (R-LA) so poetically put it, is nothing short of spectacular. Why? Because nothing terrifies Washington’s professional spendaholics more than someone actually checking the receipts.
Kennedy took to the Senate floor on Thursday and absolutely torched the Democrats and USAID, laying out some of the more interesting places our hard-earned tax dollars have been going. And, folks, buckle up because this list is something else.
Musk’s team found that USAID has been funneling taxpayer money to Afghanistan, Yemen, and Syria—because, you know, those are definitely the places Americans wanted to prioritize after our military packed up and left behind billions in equipment. But wait, there’s more! USAID has a mere 10,000 employees who somehow manage to give away a casual $40 billion a year. And how, exactly, is that money being spent? Well, let’s take a look.
For starters, USAID decided it was very important to fund electric vehicle programs in Vietnam. Why? Who knows! They also sent U.S. tax dollars to a transgender clinic in India—because, apparently, American taxpayers need to foot the bill for global gender ideology. But don’t worry, that’s just the beginning.
USAID gave $1.5 million to an LGBTQ group in Serbia to “advance diversity, equity, and inclusion in Serbia’s workplaces and business community.” Because when Americans are struggling with inflation and a border crisis, the real priority is making sure Serbian corporations are sufficiently woke. Oh, and did we mention USAID also sent $2 million for sex changes in Guatemala? If you didn’t know about that, don’t feel bad—neither did most Americans.
But wait, it gets worse. Musk’s review found that USAID had funneled $122 million to groups linked to foreign terrorist organizations. Not Cub Scout troops. Not relief agencies. Groups aligned with terrorists. That includes millions to Hamas-controlled organizations in Gaza, where recipients of USAID funds have openly called for the “cleansing” of their land from the “impurity of Jews.” That’s right, while the Biden administration lectures Americans on the importance of fighting hate, their government was literally funding it overseas.
And if you thought that was the worst of it, guess again. USAID also gave $10 million in food aid to an al-Qaeda-linked terrorist group called the Nusra Front. Yes, you read that right. While Americans struggle to pay for groceries, their tax dollars were used to feed actual terrorists.
Still not mad? Let’s keep going. USAID spent $20 million to produce a new Sesame Street show in Iraq, $4.5 million to combat “misinformation” in Kazakhstan (because clearly, that’s America’s problem), and nearly $8 million to teach Sri Lankan journalists how to avoid “binary gendered language.” Because, of course, the real crisis facing the world is making sure Sri Lanka’s media doesn’t use offensive pronouns.
And this is only the tip of the iceberg. Sen. Joni Ernst (R-IA) has already pointed out that USAID refuses to be transparent when members of Congress ask questions—especially when it comes to Ukraine. So, it’s no surprise that President Trump has now launched a full-scale investigation into the USAID mess.
Ready to have your mind blown?
Senator John Kennedy on Elon Musk and DOGE exposing USAID, “I’ll tell you what Mr. Musk discovered. I find it fascinating. He discovered:

– He found that we are giving money to Yemen

Kennedy was careful to note that not everything USAID does is bad. But here’s the real issue: Democrats don’t want to talk about any of this. Instead of addressing why taxpayer money is being thrown at woke pet projects and literal terrorist groups, they’re too busy attacking Musk and the investigation itself. Because for them, the real threat isn’t waste, fraud, or corruption—it’s exposure.

Elon Musk, for his part, responded with a simple “Thanks” to Kennedy’s speech. And honestly? That man deserves a medal. It’s long past time we had someone in Washington who actually treats taxpayer money like it belongs to the people—because, believe it or not, it does.
