Ah, now this is the kind of housecleaning Washington desperately needed. The swamp creatures are finally getting their eviction notices, and Acting Attorney General James McHenry is making it clear: if you were part of the Biden administration’s politically motivated crusade against Donald Trump, you’re out. Pack up your desks, turn in your badges, and don’t let the door hit you on the way out.
McHenry’s letter to these former Biden DOJ officials was as straightforward as it gets. After years of a hyper-politicized Department of Justice, where every move was aimed at taking down Trump and his supporters, the new administration is making it clear that this nonsense ends now. And rightly so. If you actively participated in weaponizing the legal system against a political opponent, why on earth would you be trusted to serve in that same system under the very man you tried to take down?

Let’s not forget what these folks were involved in. From the moment Trump left office, Biden’s DOJ launched investigation after investigation, hoping something—anything—would stick. First, there was the raid on Mar-a-Lago, a spectacle so absurd it made Watergate look like a minor office dispute. The claim? That Trump had classified documents—something that suddenly became a crime when he did it, despite the fact that Biden himself had boxes of documents stashed away in his garage next to his Corvette. But sure, we were all supposed to believe this was about “justice” and not about taking out the Republican frontrunner for 2024.
And then there was Jack Smith—Biden’s attack dog in a prosecutor’s office. Garland appointed him in November 2022, conveniently right after Trump announced his candidacy. What followed was a flurry of indictments, culminating in a 37-count case about classified documents. Never mind the fact that Trump, as president, had the authority to declassify documents. Never mind the fact that no former president had ever been treated this way. No, the goal was clear: tie Trump up in legal battles and drain him of time and resources before the 2024 election.

But then came the Supreme Court’s ruling in July 2024, a massive blow to the left’s lawfare strategy. The court ruled that Trump was entitled to presumptive immunity for official acts taken while in office, effectively gutting much of the legal case against him. And just weeks later, Judge Aileen Cannon dismissed the classified documents case entirely, ruling that Smith’s appointment was unconstitutional. In other words, the whole thing was a sham from the beginning. And wouldn’t you know it, once Trump won the 2024 election, Smith suddenly lost interest in his appeal. Funny how that works.
So now, Trump’s team is doing what should have been done years ago: purging the DOJ of the bad actors who turned the department into a political weapon. Predictably, the media is already wringing their hands, crying about “politicization.” But let’s be clear—this isn’t politicization. Politicization was what happened under Biden when DOJ officials used the law to target their boss’s biggest political rival. What’s happening now is simply restoring justice to the Department of Justice.
And really, what’s the alternative? Keep these people in place? Keep pretending that the same officials who spent years trying to destroy Trump are suddenly going to fall in line and serve his administration in good faith? Please. That would be like keeping termites in your house after fumigation, hoping they suddenly develop a respect for your wooden beams.
Over a dozen DOJ officials on Jack Smith’s team who played a significant role in prosecuting President Trump have been terminated by Acting Attorney General James McHenry.

This is a necessary correction. It’s a reminder that elections have consequences. And it’s a long-overdue sign that the days of the DOJ being used as a Democratic attack machine are finally, finally coming to an end.
