With more than 330,000 illegal immigrants estimated to reside in Arizona, the former president called out Vice President Kamala Harris as the architect of “the most egregious betrayal that any leader in American history has ever inflicted upon our people.”
In his words, Harris’s handling of the border has not only eradicated American sovereignty but “unleashed an army of migrant gangs” onto U.S. soil, bringing violence and terror to communities along the border and beyond.
Trump’s message to the crowd was crystal clear: Harris’s record, particularly on border security, should disqualify her from even thinking about a promotion to the Oval Office. And, of course, he didn’t miss the opportunity to throw Biden into the mix, dubbing them “the worst combination in the history of our country.”
“Over the past four years, Kamala Harris has orchestrated the most egregious betrayal that any leader in American history has ever inflicted upon our people. She has eradicated our sovereign border, and she has unleashed an army of migrant gangs who are waging a campaign of violence and terror against our citizens,” Trump continued to say.
“And my message today is very simple. Kamala’s migrant invasion, given to us through gross incompetence, disqualifies her from even thinking about being President. We can’t let that happen,” he continued. “No person who is responsible for so much bloodshed and death on our soil can ever be be allowed to become the President of the United States, what she’s done and he’s done. Crooked Joe and Kamala, what a combination. Worst combination in the history of our country.”
For a state like Arizona, where border security and immigration have a massive impact on daily life, Trump’s hardline stance plays directly to the concerns of many voters. And while Arizona has leaned blue in recent elections, recent polling averages from FiveThirtyEight show Trump clinging to a narrow two-point lead over Harris. But even with a lead, victory isn’t a sure thing—Arizona officials are preparing for vote tabulation to take up to 13 days in Maricopa County alone, leaving election watchers on the edge of their seats.
