Twenty Two Year Old Man Charged With Murder In December Shooting

A December shooting in Charlotte has moved from tragedy to prosecution, but the facts emerging from court documents only deepen the sense of disarray surrounding the case.

A 22-year-old man, Aristides Eli Orellana Ramirez, now faces a murder charge in connection with a gunfire incident that left two young people dead in the early hours of December 20, 2025. One of those victims was just 16 years old.

Authorities issued an arrest warrant on Tuesday, charging Ramirez with murder in the death of Braulio Galeano Ayala.

He also faces a second felony charge for discharging a weapon into occupied property, stemming from allegations that he fired a handgun into the exterior of an apartment building on Farmhurst Drive. The charges sketch the outline of a violent encounter, but many of the circumstances remain unresolved.

According to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, officers were dispatched shortly after 3:30 a.m. to two separate locations involving gunshot victims. The first response took officers to Hawthorne Lane, following a report tied to Novant Presbyterian Hospital.

There, police located a victim suffering from life-threatening gunshot wounds who was later pronounced dead. Almost simultaneously, officers conducted a welfare check on East Woodlawn Road near Nations Crossing Road, where another victim was found with similarly severe injuries and transported to a local hospital, only to die shortly thereafter.

Investigators say both victims were shot during the same incident at the same location, but one left the scene in an attempt to seek help. The victims were later identified as 18-year-old Samir Molina and 16-year-old Braulio Galeano Ayala. While Ramirez has been charged in Ayala’s death, no arrest has yet been announced in connection with Molina’s killing, leaving one homicide still unresolved.

As the legal process begins for Ramirez, the investigation into Molina’s death remains open. For families and a community seeking clarity, the charges bring a measure of movement but not closure. The full story of what happened in those early morning hours is still coming into focus, one court filing and investigative step at a time.
