It turns out that even Democrats want real solutions and not dumb suggestions from the Biden administration.
President Joe Biden is calling on Congress to suspend the federal gasoline and diesel tax for three months. The President is also asking other states to suspend their own tax to give Americans a break at the pump.
The White House said in a release, “The price of gas is up dramatically around the world, and by almost $2 per gallon in America, since (Russian President Vladimir) Putin began amassing troops on the border of Ukraine.
It’s a pathetic plea and Americans aren’t buying it.
When gas prices soared in 2008 then Democrat primary presidential candidate Obama rejected the suggestion calling it a gimmick that won’t fix the problem.
“John McCain started –he made the proposal. Then Hillary Clinton said, ‘Me too,'” Obama said in 2008.
“It would last for three months and it would save you, on average, half a tank of gas,” he said. “That’s what Senator Clinton and Senator McCain are proposing to deal with the gas crisis. $25 to $30. Half a tank of gas.”
“We’re arguing over a gimmick to save you half a tank of gas over the course of the entire summer so that everyone in Washington can pat themselves on the back and say that they did something,” Obama added.
Just a few months ago Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi rejected the idea calling it “showbiz.”

Removing the gas tax is a short-sighted plan that ironically would end right around the midterm election causing prices to spike.
Biden had a year to deal with gas prices and he did nothing.
The Biden administration ignored health experts’ suggestions to ramp up home testing before the Omicron wave and was caught off guard by inflation, Afghanistan, the Delta wave, gas prices, and the fact that their sanctions against Russia failed.
