Out with the old and in with the new!
The COVID case tracker on CNN had a good run but now that the pandemic is over CNN needs something to get their “karens” to freak out about.
Meet the gun violence epidemic tracker.
CNN’s New Day has been showing a tabulation of the number of mass shootings and deaths so far this year.
With the pandemic winding down CNN seems to have started the latest wave of attacks on the Second Amendment.
During a recent episode CNN Newsroom with victor Blackwell and Alisyn Camerota displayed the tracker while speaking with Fred Guttenberg to praise the DEmocrats and attack Republicans. Guttenberg also demanded that Democrat Senator Joe Manchin move to the left in order for the Senate to pass gun control laws:
More people have died in America because of gun violence than have died in America because of war. And America right now is a war zone on our streets. We see the gun violence. We see people in the streets in the communities, in the malls, in the churches, in the temples, in the schools, getting shot and killed. And it’s preventable. And we know it’s going to continue because nobody is taking the measures necessary to do anything about it. But we can. And it is not okay. And it was time for a video like this to happen, because the truth is, the majority of gun owners — and that includes those in the military who have used these weapons — support gun safety.
Camerota then asked Guttenberg if he believes new gun restrictions will be passed by Congress. He blamed Republicans and Manchin for gun deaths and during the whole segment there was an on-screen gun violence tracker.
“We are closer than we’ve ever been to passing gun safety legislation on a national level. The House is actually passing bills. The President is ready to sign them. We are also closer than we’ve ever been to not ever being able to get it done because of the way the Senate functions, okay. And the Senate has become a road block to saving lives. I am horrified by the fact that you have — you generally — you have a — listen, you have a non-governing party right now in government. I won’t even call them the GOP or the Republicans. They are a non-governing party,” he said.
