Kamala Takes A Couple Questions From The Press

Well, it’s been just about eighteen days since the Democratic nomination was essentially yanked from President Joe Biden and handed over to Kamala Harris, and boy, has it been a rough start for her.

Former President Donald Trump and his running mate, JD Vance, have been hammering her nonstop for ducking interviews, dodging questions, and keeping her positions on key issues a complete mystery. She’s gone full “Biden basement strategy,” barely emerging to face the music.

But on Thursday, Harris finally couldn’t hide any longer. Cornered by reporters, she offered up a few responses, though calling them “answers” might be a bit generous. Take her response to the stolen valor scandal engulfing her VP pick, Tim Walz.

When asked about the serious questions surrounding Walz’s dubious claims about his National Guard service, Harris delivered a textbook non-answer: “I praise anyone who has presented themselves to serve our country, and I think we all should.” Seriously? That’s it? Not exactly the kind of response that clears the air or reassures anyone concerned about Walz’s credibility—or lack thereof.

And it doesn’t stop there. When pressed on whether she’d be doing any interviews soon, Harris responded that she’d do one before the “end of the month.” The month? It’s August 8th! Does she really need that much time to find a safe space where she won’t be grilled too hard? You have to wonder—if she needs this long to prep for a simple interview, how’s she going to handle a real crisis, like dealing with Vladimir Putin or Xi Jinping, if things heat up on the world stage?

Trump, on the other hand, has shown he can step up and take questions anytime, anywhere. Harris’s hesitation only underscores how unprepared and out of her depth she seems—just like that infamous moment when she floundered during an interview about whether she’d been to the border. It’s clear she’s still got a lot to prove, and so far, she’s not making much of a case.
