Let’s talk about the latest happenings at the G7 summit in Fasano, Italy, where President Joe Biden has been making headlines for all the wrong reasons. It’s been a day filled with confusion, awkward moments, and some contentious press interactions.
From the moment Biden landed, he seemed disoriented. A video surfaced showing Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni having to corral Biden after he wandered off, setting the tone for much of the day. This was just the beginning of a series of unusual and bewildering incidents.

Biden’s confusion continued throughout the day, needing assistance from other leaders and saying some strange things. During a press conference with Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky, they signed an agreement to support Ukraine indefinitely, using interest from frozen Russian assets. However, Biden struggled to explain this, confusing Europe with Russia at one point.
The press conference itself was delayed by over an hour, and Biden had some noticeable “brain breaks” while speaking. He referred to reporters as “supporters” and had pre-selected names for the questions, reading from his notes for responses. When asked about his son Hunter’s conviction, Biden’s response was particularly scripted, describing Hunter as one of the “brightest, most decent men” he knows and stating he wouldn’t pardon him.

In another tense moment, Biden snapped at a reporter who asked about Hamas, saying, “I wish you guys would play by the rules a little bit,” implying that he wasn’t prepared for that question. He also took a swipe at Republicans for holding up a vote, criticizing their desire for accountability.

Zelensky, meanwhile, discussed a significant “$50 billion loan” to Ukraine agreed upon by the G7. The press conference wrapped up with White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre announcing its end, and Biden and Zelensky shuffled off, leaving many questions in their wake.
