Bondi herself reportedly directed a federal prosecutor to get the ball rolling, instructing them to present evidence to a grand jury. A DOJ spokesperson kept the official line short and sweet: Bondi is taking this “very seriously” and sees “clear cause for deep concern.”

This all stems from a criminal referral Gabbard sent over, along with a bombshell memo titled: “Intelligence Community suppression of intelligence showing ‘Russian and criminal actors did not impact’ the 2016 presidential election via cyber-attacks on infrastructure.” In plain English? She’s alleging that the intelligence community downplayed evidence showing Russia didn’t actually impact the election — while pushing the narrative that they helped Trump win.
And if that wasn’t enough to rattle the swamp, Gabbard also declassified material showing that in December 2016 — after Trump had already won — President Obama allegedly asked his deputies to prepare an intelligence assessment laying out Russia’s tools and actions.
That assessment concluded Russia’s goal wasn’t to flip the election to Trump but to undermine faith in the democratic process. Yet what did the public get? A years-long narrative of “Russia elected Trump,” reinforced by an FBI investigation and two special counsel probes.
