Congress Certifies Election

Well, it’s official: Donald J. Trump is heading back to the White House. Congress has certified the 2024 presidential election, confirming his victory over Vice President Kamala Harris. No objections, no drama (for once), and yet, predictably, the left couldn’t help but take the moment to relitigate the past. It’s like they have a Jan. 6 playlist on repeat, and they’re determined to keep spinning the same tired tracks no matter what’s actually happening today.

The certification went off without a hitch. Even Kamala Harris, in her final duty as vice president, presided over the proceedings with a tone of reluctant professionalism. She even managed to squeak out a line about the “peaceful transfer of power” being a cornerstone of democracy—something her party seemed to forget when they spent the last four years trying to disqualify Trump from the ballot using the 14th Amendment. Remember that little stunt? Yeah, it failed miserably, but it didn’t stop the usual suspects from trying to rewrite the Constitution in real time.

What’s remarkable here isn’t just that Trump’s win was certified without objection but that the left-wing outrage machine is still desperately clinging to their Jan. 6 narrative. Rep. Jerry Nadler, for example, took to social media to rehash the events of four years ago, complete with his favorite exaggerated claims about “rioters” and “insurrections.” He’s not alone. Former Rep. Cori Bush and Rep. Ilhan Omar both trotted out the same tired talking points, painting Trump supporters as violent extremists while conveniently ignoring the many Americans who peacefully rallied for election integrity.

Let’s be clear: the left’s obsession with Jan. 6 isn’t about protecting democracy; it’s about weaponizing it. They’ve spent years using the Capitol riot as a political cudgel to silence dissent, smear Trump, and intimidate his supporters. But here’s the kicker: the vast majority of those prosecuted for Jan. 6 weren’t violent. Many were simply present, caught up in the moment, or trespassing. They weren’t destroying property, assaulting police, or burning down buildings like we saw during the left-wing riots of 2020. Yet those individuals were treated like public enemies, all while the mainstream media turned a blind eye to the literal fire and chaos that gripped cities under the banner of “mostly peaceful protests.”

Trump, for his part, is expected to right those wrongs by pardoning many of the individuals who were unfairly prosecuted for their presence at the Capitol that day. It’s a move that will undoubtedly send the left into another spiral, but it’s also a powerful statement about fairness and proportionality—two concepts that were conspicuously absent in the handling of Jan. 6 cases.

And let’s not forget the irony of Democrats trying to lecture anyone on the “peaceful transfer of power.” This is the same crowd that spent four years screaming “Russia collusion” and trying to impeach Trump over a phone call. The same folks who pushed to disqualify him from running again, knowing full well that their arguments were flimsy at best and unconstitutional at worst.

The certification of Trump’s win is a fresh start for the country, but the left’s reaction proves they’re still stuck in the past. Instead of accepting the will of the voters and moving forward, they’re rehashing old grievances, clinging to debunked narratives, and throwing rhetorical tantrums. If this is the best they’ve got, 2024 isn’t just a win for Trump—it’s a wake-up call for Democrats. Time to grow up and move on.
