Here’s What The New White House Data Reveals About Border Numbers

A White House X account posted a graph showing legal immigration has all but halted. The data shows a 96 percent cut in arrivals from majority-Muslim countries since 2024. This graph came directly from the Cato Institute. It displays a sharp decline starting in January 2025. Between July and October of 2024, immigration from these nations was over 22,000 people per month. By the start of January this year, the number dropped to almost zero.

According to State Department figures up to February 2026, the Trump administration reduced legal immigration from 45 majority-Muslim nations by 96 percent starting in December 2024. Permanent lawful refugee admissions and monthly immigrant visa issuances dropped from 21,096 in December 2024 to only 808 by February 2026. The administration effectively halted Muslim migration and ended Muslim refugee resettlement.

President Donald Trump’s rigorous screening protocols caused this massive 96% decrease in immigration from Muslim-majority countries. The U.S. Refugee Admissions Program was effectively halted by the administration. Mid-2025 and early 2026 saw the implementation of broader travel bans. Executive actions like the June 2025 and December 2025 presidential proclamations targeted countries that harbored terrorists or had poor record-keeping.

Trump wrote in the June 2025 proclamation: “In Executive Order 14161 of January 20, 2025 (Protecting the United States From Foreign Terrorists and Other National Security and Public Safety Threats), I stated that it is the policy of the United States to protect its citizens from aliens who intend to commit terrorist attacks”. Countries such as Afghanistan, Somalia, Iran, Libya, and many others experienced a sharp decline in immigration.

Political figures and supporters are celebrating the sharp decline in numbers. Rep. Brandon Gill, R-Texas, stated, “Absolutely incredible victory for the American people, thanks to POTUS”. According to Fox News, Texas’ 23rd District GOP congressional nominee Brandon Herrera stated, “These are the wins we need to continue to deliver on.” Rep. Randy Fine, R-Fla., said, “4 percent to go! Thank you, President Trump”.

Columnist Kurt Schlichter said, “Let’s pump up those rookie numbers for every category of immigrant”. User David Harrison stated, “I voted for this—and will again”. “The next time you get the urge to ‘punish the GOP,” wrote a Turning Point user. Remember that Democrats will reverse this overnight”. A tweet from Prowler (@derzum_) stated, “Annual Muslim immigration may be the lowest in over 30 years”. The CATO Institute published the report, “Legal Immigration from Majority-Muslim Nations Was Cut 96% Since 2024”.

An impressive trend is uncovered by fresh tracking chart data from the Cato Institute. Monthly combined issuances of immigrant visas and refugee numbers ranged from 14,000 to 23,000 throughout 2024. Beginning at approximately 16,700 monthly issuances in January 2024, figures crashed to just 800 by February 2026. The graph attached to the White House post was from the Cato Institute. Immigrant quarterly admissions from majority-Muslim countries showed a severe drop starting in January 2025, as the graph illustrated.
