Hello again! Vice President Kamala Harris shared an interesting video clip on Tuesday. Curious about the contents?
The clip captured the moment she invited Governor Tim Walz of Minnesota to serve as her running mate. Nevertheless, the video sparked significant controversy, with critics accusing it of being “fake” and “scripted.”
Vice President Harris took to social media, posting the video accompanied by a powerful caption, “When I called @Tim_Walz this morning to ask him to join our campaign, I shared my deep level of respect for him and the work we’ve done together. We’re going to unify this country and we’re going to win. Let’s go get this done.” Quite the rallying call, isn’t it?
In the clip, Harris can be heard saying to Walz, “Listen, I want you to do this with me. Let’s do this together.” Mutual admiration for each other’s achievements featured prominently during the call. However, the video’s reception from the public was arguably less than enthusiastic.
Gov. Tim Walz signing abortion bill into law in Minnesota, allowing abortion to take place UP UNTIL THE MOMENT OF BIRTH, for any reason whatsoever, on January 31, 2023.
He also signed a bill letting babies die who are BORN ALIVE after a failed abortion.

Several Americans, judging by social media comments, viewed the video with a level of skepticism. For example, a user named Kate Hyde remarked, “This is so organic, wow. You’d never know this was their 8th try.” What a blow!
Another user, Ian Haworth, posted, “Truly amazing how everyone Kamala Harris speaks with on the phone has a camera crew just … waiting. So impromptu. So authentic. So real.” The sarcasm couldn’t be more palpable.
Steve Guest also chimed in, questioning, “Why does it look like Kamala Harris is reading from her iPhone while talking to Tim Walz?” Meanwhile, Jennifer Sey asked, “Why do they do these phone calls like it’s ‘impromptu’ but there’s a multi-camera set up and lighting and an obvious script for each of them?? It’s just so cringey.”

The criticism was far from sparse, with accusations of scripted phone calls and elaborate camera setups. It raises the question: Are politicians losing their authenticity in the midst of all the orchestrated strategies? Or is this simply the modus operandi of contemporary politics? It’s certainly food for thought.
