Hello everyone! Buckle up because we’ve got some political theater to unpack.
Recently, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz made a jaw-dropping declaration, insisting President Biden is “fit for office.” This statement came despite Biden’s less-than-stellar debate performance against former President Donald Trump. It happened on July 3rd, during a gathering of governors, when a journalist threw the question at Walz.
Walz confidently said, “Yes, he’s fit for office. Three and a half years of delivering for us, going through what we’ve all been through. None of us are denying that Thursday night [June 27] was a less than impressive performance. However, that doesn’t impact my belief that he’s performing in his role.” Well, color us skeptical. Delivering what exactly? Confusion? Stumbles?
Even with Democrats practically begging Biden to bow out after that debate disaster, Walz stood his ground. Biden, on July 21st, finally announced he wouldn’t seek re-election but assured everyone he’d finish his term. Oh joy, another year and a half of riveting leadership.
Walz went on, waxing poetic about “Joe from Scranton” and his middle-class heroics. “This is Joe from Scranton,” Walz continued. “He talked about building the middle class. He did it. He delivered. And I think this idea that you get in your own head. You get a little bit cycled up on that. What we saw in there today was a guy who was the guy that all of us believed in the first time who could beat Donald Trump and did beat Donald Trump.”
Delivered what, you ask? Inflation? A border crisis? Crippling gas prices? Pick your poison.
Then came the big twist. With Biden stepping out of the race and endorsing Kamala Harris, the plot thickened. The Democrats, already jittery about their election chances, had a fresh twist to digest. Harris, in a surprise move, picked Governor Tim Walz as her Vice-Presidential candidate.
That announcement stirred up a storm of support, including a gushing endorsement from Biden himself. “Kamala Harris has made a great decision in choosing Governor Tim Walz,” Biden shared, highlighting Walz’s background as a teacher, a coach, and a National Guard veteran.
No, this is not a video from a war-torn country in the Middle East.
