Beverly Vance Aikins told Fox Nation host Tomi Lahren on Wednesday that she would “probably punch” Democratic Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed if she ever saw him. The Vice President’s mother made these comments during an interview about the Michigan candidate’s recent attacks on her son’s family. She spoke plainly about her anger regarding the remarks made against Second Lady Usha Vance and their four children.
Abdul El-Sayed has spent months making repeated comments about the Vances’ mixed-race children. The Democrat running for the open Senate seat in Michigan referred to the kids as “brown kids” during an April podcast appearance. He suggested the Vice President would eventually have an “awkward conversation” with them about his political career. El-Sayed also claimed JD Vance thinks his children are “less American than everyone else.”
These remarks did not sit well with the Vice President’s mother. She told Lahren that the candidate’s fixation on the family is unacceptable. Aikins noted that her son is 42 years old and holds the second highest office in the land. She stated that El-Sayed does not know what kind of person JD Vance actually is.
Beverly Vance Aikins offered a sharp assessment of the candidate’s motives during the interview. She told the host, according to the New York Post, “I think that man’s an idiot. Those are my babies.” Her love for her daughter-in-law was equally clear in her statement. Aikins stated, “I love Usha as if she were my own daughter,” describing her as a genuine person, according to RedState.

When asked if the attacks made her angry, she gave a direct answer. “It makes me mad, honestly,” she admitted to the host. She explained that the candidate’s words hit a nerve because he lacks any real knowledge of the family. Aikins suggested that jealousy might be the only reason El-Sayed keeps talking about them.
Despite her anger, she said she will not take physical action against the candidate. She told Lahren, “I’m not gonna do anything about it.” She added that hitting him would only get her in trouble with the law. Her son, Vice President JD Vance, has already warned El-Sayed to “keep my wife’s name the hell outta your mouth.”
El-Sayed is currently battling Republican Mike Rogers in a hotly contested Senate race. Repeated mentions of Usha Vance’s ethnicity have been made by the former Detroit public health official. He even posted on X about whether JD would take his wife to meet his late grandfather. This follows Vance’s invocation of his grandfather at an Ohio event.
The Vice President has called the candidate “a very, very evil” person in response to the taunts. Beverly Vance Aikins said she usually laughs off such attacks on her son. But she admitted that this specific line of questioning crossed a clear boundary. She remains supportive of her son and daughter-in-law while dismissing the Democrat’s claims as baseless.
