Spree Killer Found Dead In Cell

The case took another turn Tuesday night, bringing a sudden and unresolved end to a series of events that had already shaken parts of Georgia.

Olaolukitan Adon-Abel, the 26-year-old suspect accused in a multi-victim killing spree, was found dead in his jail cell, according to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities said deputies attempted lifesaving measures after discovering him, but he was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials have not yet determined a cause of death, though they stated there are no immediate signs of foul play. An internal review is now underway.

Adon-Abel had been in custody following a string of attacks earlier in April that left three people dead, including a Department of Homeland Security employee. Investigators say the violence unfolded over several hours and across multiple locations.

The first shooting occurred around 1 a.m. outside a Checkers restaurant on Wesley Chapel Road, where 31-year-old Prianna Weathers was killed. Roughly an hour later, authorities say the suspect traveled about 16 miles and shot 49-year-old Tony Mathews, who was sleeping outside a grocery store in Brookhaven.

Hours later, the final and most widely reported attack took place. Lauren Bullis, a 40-year-old DHS auditor, was walking her dog when she was allegedly shot and stabbed. The attack drew a strong response from federal officials due to her role within the department.

Investigators have not identified a clear motive. Early accounts suggest the suspect may have left his residence following a dispute with roommates, but authorities have not confirmed any direct connection between that incident and the subsequent incidents.

Adon-Abel’s background also drew attention. Officials noted a prior criminal record that included multiple offenses, though details about the timing of those convictions remain limited.

With the suspect now deceased, the legal process tied to the case ends before trial. The investigation into the killings continues, but key questions—particularly regarding motive—may remain unanswered.
