If you thought Sundays were for rest and relaxation, you must have forgotten who’s running the show now. Trump doesn’t do lazy beach days while the country crumbles—he’s too busy cleaning house. And today’s target? USAID. That’s right, the bloated, corrupt agency that’s been funneling taxpayer dollars into global pet projects and left-wing activism just got a reality check.
This weekend, Trump’s administration put the hammer down, slashing 2,000 USAID jobs and putting nearly every remaining employee on leave, except for a select few in “mission-critical” roles. And let’s be real, given what we now know about USAID’s track record, even that’s being generous.
The move was initially stalled by yet another activist judge trying to play defense for the deep state, but by Friday, a federal judge finally let the administration proceed. And just like that, USAID employees were notified that, come Sunday night, their government-funded joyride was officially over.
Of course, the usual suspects are already wailing about how “vital” USAID is to national security, stability, and global diplomacy. We’re told—over and over again—that foreign aid helps “build alliances” and “stabilize economies.” But thanks to Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), we now have a much clearer picture of what USAID was actually doing with all that cash. And let’s just say it wasn’t exactly in the best interests of the American taxpayer.

Here’s just a small taste of what DOGE uncovered: USAID has been handing out millions of dollars like candy at a left-wing Halloween party. They spent American taxpayer money on pottery classes in Morocco, funneled funding into coronavirus bat research at—wait for it—the Wuhan Institute of Virology, and somehow decided that the world needed a $20 million Sesame Street adaptation in Iraq. And if that’s not bad enough, they even burned through $1.5 million to “advance diversity, equity, and inclusion” in Serbian businesses. Because, clearly, that’s at the top of every hardworking American’s priority list.

But it doesn’t stop at wasteful spending. USAID has been caught throwing money at organizations with ties to terrorism, bankrolling far-left activism abroad, and pushing radical gender ideology under the guise of “development programs.” It’s no wonder the Biden administration loved this agency so much—it was essentially an unaccountable slush fund for globalist nonsense.
Naturally, Democrats and their allies in the media are in full meltdown mode. They’ve been filing lawsuits against Trump so often that you’d think they had him on a speed dial labeled “emergency tantrum response.” But this time, they lost. And it’s about time. For years, USAID has operated like a rogue entity, using American tax dollars to fund pet projects that have absolutely nothing to do with America’s best interests. The agency is a bureaucratic relic stuffed with career globalists who believe their job is to shape the world in their ideological image, regardless of what voters actually want.
So no, don’t expect any sympathy for the bureaucrats who just got sent packing. If anything, this should be just the beginning. USAID either needs a complete overhaul, or it needs to go the way of the dodo. Trump’s move is the first step in taking back control from an out-of-touch elite that thinks your hard-earned money is theirs to burn. And if today’s developments are any indication, the days of unchecked government bloat are coming to an end.
