Clyburn Defends Joe

Ladies and gentlemen, let’s dive into the latest political buzz! Over the weekend, Rep. James Clyburn (D-SC) came to President Joe Biden’s defense following his much-criticized debate performance. Clyburn’s defense, delivered during a Sunday interview on CNN’s “State of the Union” with Dana Bash, has certainly stirred the pot.

Clyburn, who is 83 years old, attributed Biden’s “bad performance” to what he termed “preparation overload.” He explained, “I have been a part of debate preparation before, and I know when I see what I call preparation overload. And that’s exactly what was going on the other night.”

According to Clyburn, Biden struggled to recall the information he had been crammed with before the debate. “I saw Joe Biden grabbing for words and phrases and even numbers that he was loaded up with,” Clyburn claimed.

But that’s not all. Clyburn also pointed to Biden’s history of stuttering as a factor. “Joe Biden has a history of stuttering. He did that as a child. All of us know how stutterers operate. I went to school with one,” he said. “So, when you have trouble getting out a word, that is what comes from stuttering. But when he expressed opinions, he was on the money with the opinions. He may not have gotten the word out, but the thoughts were great.”

Despite new polling from CBS News showing that only 27% of voters believe Biden has the mental fitness to continue serving as president, Clyburn remains firmly in Biden’s corner. He believes Biden should stay in the race, emphasizing the substance of Biden’s ideas over the fluency of his delivery.

Clyburn’s remarks come at a crucial time for Biden, as his debate performance has sparked widespread criticism and concern about his ability to serve another term. The narrative around Biden’s mental fitness has been a significant talking point, with critics and supporters alike weighing in on his capacity to lead.

As we watch this political drama unfold, it’s clear that voices like Clyburn’s play a pivotal role in shaping public perception. Will Clyburn’s defense help stabilize Biden’s campaign, or will the concerns raised by the debate performance and polling data prevail? Stay tuned, folks, because this story is far from over!
