Denver Human Services Gives Offer For Encampments

A tent encampment under a bridge in Denver has been home to a group of illegal immigrants for months. Despite efforts from the city to get them into shelters, the migrants are refusing to move unless Denver’s Democratic Mayor, Mike Johnston, agrees to their list of 13 demands.

The demands include things such as being able to cook their own meals with ingredients provided by the city, access to showers without time limits, and free consultations with an immigration lawyer. The list goes on to demand transportation to court dates, medical care, employment support, and even a document signed by the city outlining their demands.

This comes at a time when Denver is facing a growing crisis of illegal immigration, with an estimated 40,000 undocumented migrants arriving in just the past few months. To address this issue, the city has been funding shelters and services for these individuals. However, the recent budget cuts to police, sheriff, and fire departments announced by the city show the prioritization of illegal immigrants over the safety and well-being of its own citizens.

The city has been making efforts to clear out encampments and encourage migrants to move into shelters, but it has not been successful. The camps continue to reappear, and the city is now resorting to providing even more resources and amenities in order to entice the migrants off the streets.

One advocate for illegal immigrants, V Reeves, accused the city of not providing enough food at the shelters, claiming that some of it is spoiled. This is just one example of the endless demands being made by these migrants, who are essentially being given carte blanche by the city to dictate their living conditions and treatment.

While advocates for the migrants may see it as a victory to have the city offer more resources and a longer stay in shelters, the taxpayers ultimately foot the bill for these services. This is just another example of the taxpayer’s hard-earned money being used to support those who are breaking the law by entering the country illegally.

It’s time for Denver and other cities across the country to stop prioritizing the needs of illegal immigrants over those of its own citizens. The citizens of Denver deserve a Mayor who will put their safety and well-being first instead of bending to the demands of those who are breaking the law. It’s time to address the root cause of the problem and secure our borders rather than continue to enable and reward illegal immigration.
