Rove Responds To Press Conference

Hold on to your hats because we’ve got a doozy of a story involving none other than Hollywood legend Robert De Niro and former President Donald Trump.

The New York Post didn’t hold back in its Wednesday morning cover, taking a jab at De Niro for his less-than-stellar press conference supporting President Joe Biden’s re-election campaign. The scene? Outside the Manhattan courthouse where Trump’s hush money trial is wrapping up.

The Post’s cover was a masterclass in snark, referencing De Niro’s iconic role in the 1980 film “Raging Bull.” In huge capital letters, the headline screamed, “RAGING BULLSH*T.” Below, the sub-headline invoked the infamous “Simpsons” character, Sideshow Bob, dubbing De Niro “Sideshow Bob De Niro goes ballistic stumping for Biden outside Trump trial.”

Social media was abuzz with the cover, with @newsbell tweeting, “DENIRO DENOUNCED: Looks like the @NYPost didn’t appreciate Robert DeNiro’s anti-Trump comments outside the courthouse in lower Manhattan where closing arguments in the Trump case wrapped up last night.”

Trump, never one to shy away from a confrontation, responded to De Niro’s appearance in classic Trump fashion. “I never knew how small, both mentally and physically, Wacko Former Actor Robert De Niro was,” Trump posted on Truth Social. He continued, “Today, De Niro, who suffers from an incurable case of TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME, commonly known in the medical community as TDS, was met, outside the Courthouse, with a force far greater than the Radical Left – MAGA.”

But Trump wasn’t the only one criticizing De Niro’s surprise Tuesday morning press conference. Republican strategist Karl Rove also chimed in, arguing that Biden’s campaign made a critical error by sending De Niro to Trump’s trial. Rove suggested that this move only served to prove claims that the prosecution was politically motivated.

“Stupid mistake by the Biden campaign! They wanted to get, while all the cameras were there, they wanted to get their moment in the sun. And it was a big mistake,” Rove said. “It politicized the trial — better to have waited.”

Rove continued with a pointed critique of De Niro’s statements. “And then what was said, with all due respect to Mr. De Niro, who’s a wonderful, wonderful actor … Are those the kind of credible statements that are going to cause people who don’t like Biden and don’t like Trump, but are trying to figure out who to vote for, are they going to cause people to say, ‘Well, geez, you now told me you wanted to destroy our country? Of course, he did.’ The people who believe that are already in the Biden camp,” Rove said.

So there you have it, folks. A high-profile Hollywood actor steps into the political arena, only to be met with a barrage of criticism and a biting front-page cover. Whether De Niro’s passionate defense of Biden will sway any voters remains to be seen, but one thing’s for sure: it’s made for one memorable moment in this ongoing political drama.
