Andrea Mitchell To Leave MSNBC

Well, well, well—another one bites the dust. It’s been a pretty great couple of weeks if you enjoy watching the slow-motion collapse of the leftist corporate media. And now, you can add another name to the list of those heading for the exits: Andrea Mitchell. That’s right, after 17 long years, she’s stepping down as the host of Andrea Mitchell Reports.

Now, before anyone starts shedding tears, don’t worry—she’s not completely disappearing. She’ll still be lingering around as NBC News chief foreign affairs correspondent and chief Washington correspondent, which is a fancy way of saying they’re keeping her on the payroll to do occasional segments no one will watch. But let’s be honest: at this point, who was actually tuning in to her show anyway? Even leftists don’t seem too broken up about this, judging by their reactions on X (formerly Twitter). And that’s saying something, considering MSNBC viewers aren’t exactly the most discerning audience.

This comes right on the heels of MSNBC forcing its so-called “stars” like Rachel Maddow to take pay cuts and Chuck Todd announcing his departure after two decades at the network. Not exactly a sign of a thriving media empire, is it? More like rats jumping off a sinking ship. MSNBC has been bleeding ratings for months, and the trend isn’t stopping anytime soon. The legacy media is imploding before our very eyes, and Mitchell’s departure is just another nail in the coffin.

So, where does Andrea go from here? Well, if history is any guide, she’ll probably follow the standard washed-up-media figure playbook: start a podcast that no one listens to, make occasional guest appearances on cable news, and pretend she’s still relevant. Maybe she’ll pop up on CNN from time to time—they love giving a home to MSNBC castaways. Either way, it’s hard to imagine the political landscape changing much without Andrea Mitchell Reports in the mix.

Of course, we can’t let her go without revisiting some of her greatest hits. Like that time in 2020 when a reporter from the Media Research Center asked her about MSNBC’s Hunter Biden coverage, and instead of answering, she frantically demanded that the reporter stay six feet away from her. Nothing says “trustworthy journalist” quite like panicking over a basic question.

Or how about the way she and her network constantly claim to be “reliably truthful”? Yeah, sure—just as long as the “truth” conveniently aligns with whatever the Democratic Party wants pushed that day. This is the same MSNBC that spent years peddling the Russia collusion hoax like it was gospel, only to have it blow up in their faces. But sure, they’re totally the ones you should trust for the real story.

And let’s not forget the moment when Andrea Mitchell fell asleep on air. Maybe she was just taking notes from Joe Biden? Hard to tell. Either way, it wasn’t exactly a great look for someone who was supposed to be engaged in the news.

Oh, and then there was the time she went full identity-politics mode and blamed Kamala Harris’ unpopularity on misogyny instead of, you know, Kamala being a terrible politician with no real policy accomplishments. But that’s MSNBC for you—if a Democrat is failing, it’s never their fault. There must be some kind of bigoted conspiracy behind it.

So, Andrea, it’s been real. Well, not really. More like predictably partisan and painfully dull. But hey, enjoy your retirement (or whatever limbo MSNBC is sending you to). Something tells me America will be just fine without Andrea Mitchell Reports cluttering up the airwaves.
